• Neuroengineering Applications and Technologies Research Laboratory (NEAT Research Lab)
The field of brain research progresses methodically as conventional experimental techniques and technologies are applied to investigate established questions in the field. Occasionally, however, the field of brain research advances in startling leaps as new technologies (or at least technologies new to the field) are used. The number of Nobel Prizes related to the impact of previously unapplied technologies on the field of brain research is evidence of the importance of bridging the fields of engineering and neuroscience. It was this recognition that led to the creation of the field of neuroengineering. The NEAT Lab focuses its efforts on using state-of-the-art engineering techniques and technologies to address problems that have a neuroscientific base and to improve the ability to perform and the results obtained from fundamental neuroscience research.
